Introduction
I, Luke Townsley, am developing ClearlyFish.com to make backyard fish gardening more easily accessible for anyone who longs for a simpler, more natural lifestyle, even if they have limited time and money. Simply, backyard fish gardening seeks to incorporate fish and other aquatic plants and organisms into beautiful and relaxing backyard ecosystems.
What's wrong
Humans have always enjoyed a deep bond with water and aquatic life. Throughout history, our ancestors flourished in close proximity to bodies of water, benefiting greatly from the abundance of high-quality food provided.
However, in modern times, the reputation of seafood has suffered due to concerns such as overfishing, pollution, and uncertainties surrounding farmed fish quality.
The hope
My work at ClearlyFish.com is driven by a strong desire to revive the culture of harmony with water, aquatic plants, and animals. I aim to find practical and simple approaches to bring back that sense of oneness with aquatic life, from cultivating aquatic ecosystems in our backyards to incorporating their surplus into our lives and serving these products on our tables.
I am not yet an expert on fish or fish culture, but have long held a fascination with fish, permaculture, organic gardening, homesteading, animal culture, alternative building practices, and other related topics.
The plan
Given that a wealth of information is available, albeit mostly applied in different contexts, I will rely on modern methods like internet searches and AI tools to expedite my research and present my findings as efficiently as possible.
As I write this, I have yet to set up my fish tanks, and I don't plan to introduce significant aquatic life until the spring of 2024. At present, my intention is to construct ferrocement tanks, a decision influenced in part by site-specific factors and the unique opportunities presented by my location in the Missouri Ozarks.
My goal is to share my discoveries, insights, and experiences, while rekindling a sense of wonder and appreciation for the deep connection we humans have with water and the captivating world it encompasses.
